Renault has recently caused a stir with numerous new electric cars, and now there is new information and pictures of the sixth generation of the Renault Clio, which represents the combustion engine range in the compact class of the French. In 2019, the current generation appeared, which received a facelift in 2023, so it's high time for a successor.
Renault Clio Erlkönig – Exterior Design
Of course, the Erlkönig is still heavily hidden under the camouflage, but some features can already be detected. First of all, of course, it is noticeable that so much does not change at all, the Clio is one of the brand's most popular models and does not get a radical change in the sixth generation.
Despite the familiar body shape, however, there are also innovations in the Erlkönig. For example, the newly developed grille, which is now equipped with small diamonds. The front headlights are also being revised and there are apparently two-part lights.
In the side view, you can clearly see the familiar shape and also the retention of the door handle on the rear side window for the rear seat. The spoiler on the roof is also easy to see.
Looking at the rear, we can also expect newly developed taillights, the rest is still hidden under the camouflage. In terms of dimensions, the new Clio should be light, so we could get a little more space in the interior.
Renault Clio Erlkönig – Drive and engine
Under the hood of the Clio, we expect a further development of the current E-Tech four-cylinder mild hybrid. Whether there will still be a pure combustion engine without hybridization is questionable due to the stricter emission regulations. The new Clio is built on Renault's CMF-B platform, which is closely related to the one for electric cars (CMF-BEV). Accordingly, there could also be the potential for an all-electric variant, but such a plan has not been confirmed.
Renault Clio Erlkönig – Presentation and sales launch
Until recently, it was not even clear whether there would be a sixth generation of the Clio. After all, with the EU phase-out of internal combustion engines by 2035, a boundary line has already been drawn. Under the impression of the currently faltering mobility turnaround, Renault has now pushed ahead with the development of the successor after all. At the earliest, expect a date of 2026 for the Renault Clio.
Until the new Clio, Renault's more modern range in this segment is limited to the Renault 4 and Renault 5 electric models. As soon as more information is available or new pictures of the Clio are sighted, we will keep you posted!
